The Deans of Academic Affairs support faculty, staff, and students in the assigned areas.
These positions will be responsible for promoting student success in a student-centered environment and serve as members of the college’s administrative leadership team.
In addition to providing leadership for faculty and staff in assigned areas, the Deans will collaborate with internal and external partners in supporting student success, creating learning experiences, and identifying growth opportunities designed to serve the diverse needs of EMCC’s surrounding communities.

% - Collaborates with college leadership, faculty and staff in support of academic strategic planning, program review, institutional and specialized programmatic accreditation, resource allocation, data-informed decision making and developing programs and services that meet the regional economic and workforce needs.
Leads and supports college-wide initiatives, events and projects that promote student enrollment, retention, and success.
% - Represents the college and academic affairs through identifying, developing and fostering relationships and partnerships to further the mission of the college in service to students.
Serves on executive councils and committees, community outreach, and district assignments.
Actively participates in various advisory councils.
% - Promotes faculty and staff professional development, assists college leadership with recruiting and retaining faculty and staff, conducts faculty and staff evaluations, and partners with academic leaders.
Serves in a supervisory role for faculty and staff as assigned.
% - Responds to student and employee issues in accordance with all MCCCD policies, state and federal regulations, and addresses student concerns related to instruction.
Performs other college and district level duties as assigned, commensurate to the grade level of the position.
inimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications for Student Affairs and other non-academic pathway.
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four (4) years of full-time equivalent progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Examples of student affairs academic support management/leadership experience includes.
program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance.
No degree equivalency.
RMinimum Qualifications for Academic pathway.
Master's Degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education and three (3) years of teaching that includes curriculum/coursework development.
Examples of academic leadership/supervisory experience includes.
division/department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance.
No degree equivalency.
esired Qualifications Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Higher education teaching experience, preferably at the community college level.
Leadership experience, preferably in a higher education environment Experience with strategic planning and data-informed decision-making including program review and evaluation, specialized accreditation, program development, and faculty and staff evaluations.
Experience identifying, developing, and fostering external opportunities through community partnerships, grants/funding, and program development in support of academic affairs growth and needs.
Experience collaborating and partnering with faculty and staff and cross-college areas to achieve institutional goals.
Experience leading and supporting college-wide initiatives, events, and projects that support student enrollment, retention, and success (shared governance, accreditation)Special Working ConditionsPositions require a considerable amount of time to be invested in building internal and external relationships including attending community events and meetings.
