Position Purpose The main role of the AD&TS manager is to develop detailed understanding of the performance of current and future Eastman products in Pharma formulations, particularly in the area of Excipients, controlled delivery and coating.
Candidate should maintain an active network with technical management in the industry and act as the focal point for application insights, customer discovery and technical service.
Within Eastman, candidate should translate customer needs into technical (data) requirements for product development.
Finally, candidate will be the pivot between university (service) activities and Eastman application development.
Responsibilities Has fundamental understanding on applications of Eastman ingredients in Pharma applications, particularly in the area of Pharma Excipients.
Working knowledge of personal care ingredients and formulations is a plus.
Actively collaborates with the Eastman pharma formulation lab in the United States, in setting up experiments, reviewing results and translating experimental results in customer communications.
Is first contact for Customer and Distributor for technical information, application information or in-use properties of Eastman Excipients and pharma products.
Optionally supports global TS organization for personal care in the Asian region.
Works with the global and regional Marketing and Sales colleagues to deliver the annual plan in terms of sales support and project deployment.
Seek, gather & distribute market intelligence, contribute to the global technical knowledge-base through sharing of relevant learning & experience via call reports.
Contribute to (regional) strategy development.
Through customer calls discovers customer unmet needs, understand customer requirements and define fitness-for-use criteria for specific Pharma (excipient) applications.
Translate the fitness-for-use criteria to fundamental Eastman material characteristics.
Lead proposal of final solution to customers and follow up on application trials.
Is the regional contact point for all Pharma related technology development activities.
Maintains a network with EMN personal care organization.
Develops and maintains a network with regional institutions and with the technical centers of key companies in the Pharma industry.
Actively participate in regional industry events and conferences.
Monitor and communicate product developments relating to our existing & potential customer base and competitive landscape.
Represent Eastman and Eastman pharma excipients portfolio and (technical) tradeshows and seminars Qualifications •    We are looking for someone with a demonstrated high affinity for the pharmaceutical industry, in particular pharmaceutical formulations.
In addition, knowledge of personal care industry and ingredients is a plus.
•    PhD, or Master’s /Bachelor's Degree with a proven track record of success in the industry.
•    Ideally 5 years of experience in relevant field of Pharma (Excipient) business; demonstrated commercial acumen •    A creative team player with initiative, good analytical and trouble-shooting skills, able to work under minimum supervision.
•    Ability to influence without authority on cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
•    Experience working in multi-functional project teams and customer facing situations •    Culturally aware and comfortable with international travel.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and one or more Asian languages, with a preference for Chinese •    Approximately 50% travel within the Asia Pacific region is required for this role.
