Sustainability Consultant - You will work with McKinsey colleagues who are actively solving strategic challenges in energy markets. In April 2021, we announced the launch of McKinsey Sustainability, our new client-service platform, with the goal of helping all industry sectors transform to get to net zero by 2050 and to cut carbon emissions by half by 2030. McKinsey Sustainability seeks to be the preeminent impact partner and advisor for our clients, from the board room to the engine room, on sustainability, climate, energy transition, and environmental, social and governance (ESG). We are committed to invest behind this goal over the next four years?through our client service, knowledge and capability building, acquisitions and alliances as well as pro-bono investments. You will work with colleagues and clients to build sustainable value through delivering distinctive operations expertise. In this role, you will support senior level executives across leading global organizations achieve their sustainability and decarbonization goals. You will be an important source of intellectual insight on client projects, framing business problems in a way that the team can then execute to drive impact and client value. Specifically, you will use your expertise to develop, define, and implement strategies that help clients identify opportunities and build capabilities in energy efficiency and renewable energy (i. E. , develop decarbonization roadmaps, build EV strategies, identify portfolio reshaping opportunities for sustainable financinginstitutions). Alongside our client service teams, you will help shape our clients? strategic sustainability agendas and solve their decarbonization challenges. You will develop into a world-class expert on those perspectives and be a credible thought partner to a broad set of senior stakeholders. As a result, you will not only develop a strong knowledge base but also a deep network of sustainability practitioners. In addition, you will work in cooperation with our worldwide network of consultants to shape McKinsey''s thinking in this area, continuously developing your own knowledge, as well as that of the firm. You''ll also gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. Bachelor''s degree; advanced graduate degree (MSc/MA or equivalent) in engineering6+ years of experience in the operations field with 3+ years in the fields of carbon accounting, decarbonization plan, decarbonization technologies (renewables, CCUS, etc. ), and energy efficiency Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysisAbility to think strategically and to work in a fast-paced and complex work environmentStrong interest in the sustainability challenges for businesses, primarily in industrial environmentsAbility to lead teams working on both quantitative and qualitative workstreams Strong interest in climate change and sustainability topicsExpertise in carbon capture technologies or carbon sequestrationAbility to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization Interest in operations service area for large organizations, preferably in sustainabilityFluency in English; working knowledge of other languages is an advantage
