Head of Latin America Commercial Role Rystad Energy is a leading energy research and consulting firm headquartered in Oslo, Norway with offices across the world.

Our clients include the largest oil and gas, financial and oilfield service companies served by our team of over 500 industry experts.
In the Americas, we have our regional headquarters in Houston and other offices in New York, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogota and Calgary.

The Role We are seeking an experienced business developer with managerial skills to focus on retaining and growing our research and consulting solutions to customers in the Latin America region based in Rio de Janeiro.
The candidate will be expected to manage a team of sales and sale support professionals located in various offices throughout the region as well as build a pipeline of individual opportunities, identify client’s needs and match the appropriate research or consulting services.
This includes demonstrating our products and leading negotiations for important prospective clients.
As part of the sales team, the business developer can expect the support of local client-facing and research analysts to help as required.
All companies, government institutions and financial institutions that are in the energy sector will form the majority of this role’s focus.
This includes but is not limited to E&P companies, oilfield service companies, renewable energy companies, ministries and banks.
Strong negotiation skills, knowledge of the energy industry, experience in selling services, a consultative selling approach, product demonstrations and excellent networking skills are sought.
In addition, the candidate should possess managerial capabilities that include medium term strategic planning and short-term team execution ability.
Travel will be expected within the region as needed with occasional international trips.
Responsibilities ·         Exceed regional sales expectations/targets ·         Manage the Latin America commercial team including direct reports in Rio, Bogota and BsAs ·         Build a pipeline of companies to target according to our current and future offerings ·         Design and implement an outreach program in connection with our Marketing team ·         Present the company, our research and services in person and web conference ·         Understand the core needs of each client type and build an effective value proposition ·         Network at industry events to expand our brand ·         Manage interactions through the company’s CRM system ·         Communicate internally with research, sales colleagues and management on actives and results ·         Provide feedback and suggestions on product enhancement and new product ideas ·         Ensure new clients are on-boarded properly ·         Manage the right activities to deliver on an annual sales target Skills & Experiences ·         4+ years of new client acquisition in the oil and gas or renewables industry or adjacent industries ·         A graduate degree, post graduate desirable ·         Negotiating with procurement and/or senior management ·         Selling research databases or consulting services is preferred ·         Experience with upstream data and software sales related to upstream oil and gas supply analysis, modelling, screening and valuations ·         Knowledge of the Andean energy sector is highly desirable as are existing relationships with operators in those plays ·         Goal oriented self-starter that can work independently, and as a leader of a team, and pull in resources as required ·         Building value propositions for our databases based upon specific personas and company types ·         Experience in selling subscription services also highly desirable ·         Using standard Office tools and CRM systems ·         Sales pipeline management and robust forecasting ·         English and Portuguese and/or Spanish fluency mandatory ·         Entrepreneur mindset and ability to work remotely within a regional team Submission deadline.
