CLOUD PLATFORM ENGINEER

Cloud Platform Engineer Description - Leads the development of new Software Solutions and Services using Cloud Software development techniques.
The Software Cloud Engineering team leads the design, build, and management of Cloud Systems and Infrastructure including Software, Services, and Solutions designed for flexibility, scalability, and resiliency to support current and future business needs in an automated, repeatable way.
Responsibilities.
Works with the software engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the organization.
Plans, designs, and develops cloud-based applications.
Manages cloud environments in accordance with the organization's security guidelines.
Deploys and debugs cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Partners with DevOps to develop tooling and infrastructure for cloud development and cloud operations use cases, with a focus on microservices deployment and distributed systems monitoring and fault analysis.
Knowledge & Skills.
Developed knowledge with regard to distributed/cloud computing and knowledge in virtualization technologies, cloud infrastructure, cloud solutions, systems/microservice architecture, and design.
Demonstrated knowledge of cloud computing and/or enterprise application development.
Broad knowledge of Software and Cloud design patterns and principles.
Experience and preference for agile SW development methodologies, and a DevSecOps approach to code deployment and maintenance.
Key Technologies.
AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, Elasticsearch, IAM, ECR, Route53) Kubernetes (AWS EKS) Docker Helm Terraform Terragrunt Prometheus Grafana Thanos Fluentd / Fluentbit Kibana Istio Go Python Bash Scope & Impact.
Works with Software, Dev Ops, and Security Engineering teams to ensure product features and patches comply with cloud deployment standards.
Decisions and actions typically impact multiple departments and may have downstream repercussions lasting multiple weeks.
Complexity.
Moderate.
Some senior management interface; frequent cross-functional/cross-organizational interaction on execution of tactics.
Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives.
Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope.
May act as a team or project.
Leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process.
Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution.
Education & Experience.
Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence.
Typically 3-5 years of General/owner experience.
