Job DescriptionReporting to the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Director of Engineering is an integral part of the team, ensuring that Engineering, Health & Safety, Colleague and Guest Experience are in turn supporting every area of hotel operations. Showcase your strengths as an Assistant Director of Engineering where you will oversee the day-to-day engineering activities of both the building and your team. What you will be doing: Work closely with the Engineering leadership team to exceed guest and staff expectations of the property. Lead and develop the Engineering team; including day-to-day operations, planning, task allocation, recruitment, ongoing coaching, performance management, payroll, etc. Scheduling and coordination of contract work on specific projects. Maintain inventory, order parts, supplies, tools and materials in accordance with approved budgets. Conduct inspection of rooms, public areas and Heart of House for condition and quality of work. Work alongside the Chief Engineer in planning and implementing capital projects. Coordinate preventative maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas and safety systems with a focus to improve efficiency, profitability and service levels. Participate in the hotel Sustainability Committee to contribute to energy savings. Monitor and update the fire safety plan and building evacuation plan. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all departments throughout the hotel, project consultants and third-party contractors. Comply with local legislation and corporate policies & procedures, including all associated health & safety protocols. QualificationsYour experience and skills include: Previous experience in a comparable leadership role, including familiarity with facilities components and building systems (HVAC, electrical, building exteriors, building automation systems, etc. ) Fifth Class Power Engineer Certificate is preferred Pool operators certificate and experience in pool maintenance and pool chemistry is preferred Highly organized and process oriented, while displaying and ensuring accountability of self and team members Ability to work well under pressure and adapt as necessary, while taking initiative and being a self-starter Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Must be available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends Additional InformationOur commitment to Diversity & Inclusion: We are an inclusive company and our ambition is to attract, recruit and promote diverse talent.
