Responsibilities   A Mechanical Engineer in Plant Engineering contributes to the department mission of “providing plant engineering services and expertise to maintain, improve and grow manufacturing operations” through development and implementation of combinations of the following skills.
mechanical design expertise, equipment design, process troubleshooting, field engineering support and economic evaluations.
Provide technical support for manufacturing units in Kingsport.
Individuals in this role utilize a broad range of mechanical skills on projects that range from small, fast-paced production assignments to larger, long-ranged study jobs, development projects and capital projects.
Work closely with Maintenance, Development and Manufacturing personnel to assist the manufacturing unit in achieving their production, reliability and maintenance objectives  Required to see projects through to completion.
The project cycle can include troubleshooting, design, specification, installation, start-up and operations support.
Assist in the installation, check-out and start-up of new or modified equipment Provide technical support for Maintenance and Manufacturing and provide troubleshooting of operational problems related to manufacturing systems and equipment Provide project management and engineering support for projects.
Assist in specifying and designing mechanical equipment                                   Provides cost estimates for potential projects Required to work in production areas, such as powerhouses, machine rooms, indoors and outdoors, as well as office environment Must be able to meet requirements of working in an area with Class 1 Division 1 electrical classification   Qualifications   Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required At least 2 years of relevant professional experience required Training in design, computer-aided modeling, cost estimation and economic analysis Proficiency in SolidWorks preferred Excellent communication and collaboration skills   Eastman Chemical Company is an equal opportunity employer.
